and probably stirring the pot a little.

In 2026, we still have FAU as the home opener which is not happening as we are slated for our conference game that year in Boca.  So I'm thinking (hoping?) that behind the scenes, VPMK is looking for a team to open the new OCS on September 5, 2026.

Any thoughts?  Do we want to bring in the biggest name we can or a team with solid name recognition that might be beatable or do you not care?

I would try a 2 for 1 with one of the big 3, if that did not work out then bring in c, make it a game that will have the overflow areas packed and the atmosphere electric.

Stadium Opener doesn’t have to be a big name. It will be packed regardless of opponent

They won 2 game last year so we can't expect to beat them.  Can we find a winless junior high team somewhere?

In 3 years I would say bring on anyone; except maybe the absolute top teams (Alabama, Georgia). I wouldn't mind West Virginia since I have good memories of when we played them, and I would like to see a renewed series against them.

I would think top teams in 2 for 1's with us would require the game be played at RayJay so they can bring in lots of fans and recruits.  Guessing it's in the 2029 Notre Dame contract.

I am thinking that 2029 Notre Dame game will definitely be at RayJay

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
