Students who don't have fond memories of attending fun games don't become alumni who buy tickets or support athletics. Seems like a smart investment to me for the long term. The last decade of students haven't had much to get excited about in our revenue sports. Ideally these things would develop organically (hello, Greenbergopolis) but why is anyone upset at athletics for trying to create a fun game day experience?

Bring on the foam heads and whatever else gets students involved and excited. Shoot, I've been a Bucs season ticket holder for a long time, and there is a direct correlation between how bad the team is playing and how many T-shirts get fired out of cannons and beads get thrown off the pirate ship. When the product on the field/court isn't good, supplement it however you can to keep people interested.

Just win? How silly of us for not thinking of that.

Solution: "Guys, just score more points than the other team, every game, it's that easy. Never score less! I know you're not as good as those guys are, but, be better than them. Got it??"
