You forget they do things differently at USF. It is the fans fault.

Don't blame the school for hiring crappy ADs who hire crappy coaches who can't win.

You aren't kidding.  I'm not even allowed to expect 4 football wins in this crappy conference

It isn't a chicken or the egg thing ... win and the culture follows ... you can't have a winning culture without the winning

Last season is what a "winning culture" looks like without the wins.

Students are so important to college sports.

They had atmosphere immediately, then they graduate and become ticket buyers and donors.

The problem I have seen first hand happens at many places, you put people in charge of getting students to the game, but then they get more duties added to their plate, and eventually, student marketing just becomes a part of what they do.

When I first heard they were doing this, I saw it as a commitment to improving game atmosphere. So far the results have bee very good.

By the way, getting students to a noon game is very tough, so that crowd we had Saturday was extra impressive.

First I heard about this was today on Twitter after our game.. It appears we have a guy named Brandon Kaiser working for/ with us who is a Grand Canyon University graduate. He claims to have built the GCU Havocs (student section) and has now created a company to help other universities do the same. It seems as though he may be coordinating with students on campus and getting them to the games in addition to other ideas to help improve attendance. He may have created the new SoFlo Rodeo stuff that's on the t-shirts.

Has this been discussed here? Anyone know anything else about it?

I think it's a fantastic idea and am excited to see if it'll succeed in the long run. Anything to improve student attendance and engagement!

Guy seems like a grifter who went to a scam for profit christian "university". I like that the school is trying, but I hope they are not paying him much.

Whatever they're doing, it's making a difference. Think SoFlo Rodeo is a great idea, brand, and exciting movement for students/fans (although not a fan of the neon, but will take it for fan engagement). Pay them more to keep it up.

I heard about it somewhere.  Maybe because I have been to some GCU games, the Havocs are pretty solid - full energy all game

Let's give USF upper management some credit. They are a little slow at cultivating things - but at least they are trying. I remember some very insane fan college basketball experiences back in 2001/2002. I would love for every student to experience those moments... if anything, to cultivate more accidental Green and Gold babies from the experience that helps build a generation of kids growing up wanting to be Bulls.
