I've been hoping for something like this, if it pans out.  College football has gotten so whack-a-doodle so fast that even some of our own hard cores are doubting whether or not they will even watch their team and favorite sport anymore.  The suits (as usual) are not in touch with what their workers or customers want.

Time for a reformation!  Can I get a Hallelujah?

How is it restructures that benefits both the larger and smaller schools?

Well of course not, it will benefit only the big boys and take even more away from the middle and smaller schools.  I mean might as well have the Big10 and SEC just form their own league and have their own championships .

And then come the anti-trust lawsuits.

More than likely but it will tied up in litigation for years.

Just the threat of a lawsuit forced the P5 to allow access for the G5 to the Bowl Alliance and BCS.

At best what happens is that we go from FBS (I-A), FCS (I-AA), and non-football (I-AAA) along with the lower divisions (D-II and D-III).... we might see a "Division 0" or perhaps a "I-AAAA" for football only ... with the Big Ten and SEC as the first conferences in that new division/subdivision which might actually be outside of the NCAA.

However, that new division will have criteria for new schools/conferences to join.

Much like NAIA schools can apply to join the NCAA... and there are processes for moving from D-III to the FBS ... any "split" for the top conferences/teams would require them to provide a path that any college football program can follow.  The path doesn't have to be easy -- but it would have to have criteria where Vanderbilt and Northwestern can stay in that top level, and other schools can move up.

At this point I wish the Alabamas would go away and play each other on ESPN, the jack*** talking heads can talk them up over there, and then we can have a really big CFB league to play in with its own TV or subscription contract.

So the CFP would potentially oversee all of college football?  Isn’t that kind of like putting the wolves in charge of the hen house?

It's a scam, but it always was.
