Saban is much better than Jimbo... any one in their right mind would say so.  No problem with them going after each other. That is how rivalries are formed . Jimbo might not want to poke the bear though...

I was listening to espn radio the other day they were talking about the NIL and what big boosters were doing. A car dealer (think Tx?) put players on the payroll. These guys were saying the NCAA is going to form a committee start to look into the concept and see if it could be controlled better than-not controlled at all. This NIL has the sound of something nice for the players, but it could be a real cluster

You probably saw this thread:

Destructive NIL

Schools like ASU are founding multi-million dollar NIL entities to entice recruits to visit and sign and existing players to stay.  It's all stupid and ruinous to college athletics.  But there is no leader anymore.  It's a free for all.

Yep, you can combine these threads if you want.  I forgot we had that one out there already.

It is interesting that the big dogs are going after each other now that they don't have to keep it under the table.  Also, I don't care what the NCAA puts out at this point.  They have no recourse to retroactively do anything about NIL to these bigger schools.  They lost that option when they just threw their hands up and essentially said have at it.  I imagine if they slap these SEC schools, they will definitely break away in the coming years.

Hadn't seen that one. College sports/athletes and money-who would have thought that might not go well? What a wonderful recruiting tool they can now manipulate.

So when do we start modifying the records and placing asterisks on all the w/l records?

Saban apologized... but Jimbo is still offended.

Saban said his complaint was targeted more toward the system and collectives’ influence on recruiting, rather than Texas A&M.

About the only worthwhile part of that story from the Athletic is the following quote - "Because I learned that when I was a kid, if you did, the old man slapped me upside the head. Maybe someone should have slapped (Saban).”:roflmao:

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
