Blake Barnett was a former 5 star recruit that started at Alabama.

Trouble is he was a 5 star "pocket passer" playing in an OL made for Quentin Flowers.

Does anyone know if the new Baylor transfer a dual threat?  God I hope so...

He is a dual threat QB with great college stats, Barnett was a high recruit but his biggest stats were at USF.

Yes he is...ran for over 100 yards vs Oklahoma season high I see reported.

So he can run..which with our OL will be necessary.

He has more passing yards, passing tds, rushing yards,  and rushing  tds than all the other qbs combined and they were in the big 12. Worse case scenario he pushes Timmy and is a good back up better than Marsh.I think he will win the job but may the best qb win.  The staff seemed to really go hard after him.  Let's hope he has the best usf season ever at qb. Hope all is way have under cjs.

Barnett never lived up to his silly star rating ANYWHERE.

His passing stats last year are almost identical to Jarren Williams last year at UM but the difference is he's definitely more of a running threat. Hopefully he bucks the trend of most transfer qb's, especially here, and can flourish here but only time will tell ....

Haven't followed much on transfers but saw in the paper that this kid's team won the Sugar Bowl???  Should have some poise if nothing else.

Dang their passing stats are almost spot on, that slows the expectations. Noticed Jarren Williams got sacked 34 times and Gerry only got sacked 9 times. Wondering if thats because of Gerry's mobility and pocket presence or his oline was just that much better.

Also Jarren had taken an entire year off and gained 40 pounds before coming here. I remember in that spring game he was throwing short passes in the dirt. Could be Jarren at Miami was actually good, but we got a washed up rusty version here.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
