Who the F do you guys think USF would get that would be better than Shoop?

It's a solid hire, I hope he does well.

I had to stop reading these responses....

Maybe they guy wanted a job that wasn't a pressure cooker job...

How many times has Saban hired quality coaches as off-field consultants and they went on to be great on-field

When was the last time we hired a D-Coordinator with his resume?

Who cares how old he is?

Read the article from 247... His philosophy is exactly what USF needed..

I will bet he brings in position coaches who can recruit and bring energy...

In the SEC, his defense only gave up 12 TDs, and that was at Mississippi State

Give they guy a chance

AMEN!   Only difference in his MSU defense and what he’ll get here is the quality of that defense. I think they had a few 1st and later round picks. But, the philosophy will be the same.

I am happy with this hire.  As a 50-something dude, I can vouch that experience is a good thing.

Can’t do that…there is a ncaa limit on coaches…unless you fire someone.

Its new D-Coord. I cant imagine he doesnt get some say in his staff. Some people may go.

The reason you know that the hire probably sucks is because CJS hired him and pretty much any hire he has had sucks add to that joining a staff that has three wins all time and it’s pretty obvious that anyone worth anything is going to have a better opportunity (which is defined as anywhere that isn’t led by the worst coach in FBS football).

Thread carefully with such optimism and this hire.

Pretty sure Belichik couldn't get a Top 10 defense at USF.  If this guy gets us to average or above I'm not sure how much more we can expect at a relegated school.  People have been pissin and moanin all season about lack of aggressiveness on defense. Looks like that could change. Doesn't mean the talent will ever be where we want it to be. But Jeez, let's see how it plays out.

It's like everyone wants to be the one that says, "See, I told you it was a bad hire".

I wonder if he really will…the others seem in place unless they get better offers after the 17th.
