I hope so, but it did seem to me that they were tackling pretty good in Orlando in the last game.  That was encouraging.

Still hoping for DV, but Sims did seem to show something positive against C. on Black Friday.  Rowe might be challenging to get as he'd still be in season with the Colts.  Shoop seems too similar to Spencer. For a team that's trending younger it may be a better choice to trend toward an up and comer at DC

This is a really good question.  I have always been amazed and frustrated watching our guys 'bump" rather than tackle the other teams' offensive players and not using their arms at all.  Maybe we can hire the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  At least he had tenacity.

"None shall pass (or run, hopefully)."

im invincible monty python GIF

I am leaning towards them being jacked up to play against c. in the last game of the year on national TV. Hard for me to believe they were able to learn how to tackle in  less than a week when they couldn't figure it out all year.

I hope I'm wrong, so we'll just have to see how the games go next season.

As far as coordinators go, I know it would be nice to get a USF guy, but on paper Shoop seems like a home run. Only thing he lacks as far as I've read is his recruiting.

That’s what I thought as well. Rivalry games are always hyped like that. Shame we couldn’t have that energy all year. We would have been a 4-5 win team

I found it interesting that on one of the TDS podcasts, Seth mentioned that getting both Verpaele and Rowe together is a possibility.  I guess they would come in as co-DCs.

Heard that as well. I would not mind that concept.

Looks like Shoop had two number one defense at Penn State and at Mississippi State. Good defense at Vanderbilt also...top 25 only team he didnt do well at was Tennessee 104th for one year...but he followed that up with a number one defense at Miss State.

I was thinking old retread and avoid but he might be pretty good pick-up.

I'd take Shoop and maybe one of the younger guys to stay and learn from him as CO DC.

Problem Bringing In the other young guys or Simms is they are learning the job in a very important year 3.
