trouble with P5 big names who are fired is..they might hire on for the pay check but they are shopping a new gig and could easily be a One and Done. Orgeron will be floating around out there after the season. maybe he would want to go help out a team in need?? Rumor is Ala wants him as their DC so we better move fast. 😉  He likes to fish. Likes pretty gals. Maybe he could even find a place that served mud bugs.

Some of it is personnel.

But tackling technique is coaching.  Putting Grier and Boyles -- who are great pass rushers -- of the line of scrimmage is coaching.  Having the defense fall back 10 yards on 3rd and sixes is coaching.

The BYU, Tulsa, ECU, and Houston games were all winnable if the DC could put the players in a position to win... USF could be going (possibly) bowing this season.

I also blame CJS for not getting help on the dline and LB from the portal and not forcing tackle practice.

With what scholarships? The entire Dline stayed on another year.

I agree with you 100%. They always say the definition of insane is when you do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. Put guys closer to the line and with inside leverage, forcing teams to work the sidelines, which will allow the speed of our defense to show up. Leaving the center of the field wide open is just BAD coaching.

Players will still make mistakes or get beat on talent.  So there is no magic solution.

But some things are obvious to those of us in the peanut gallery, eh?

Hmm?? We tried one of the UF Championship DC's it didnt work out very well...see CCS. Grantham is supposed to be a defensive wonder worker but oddly he has never stayed anywhere very long?? He is a VT grad and I'll bet VT makes some changes after their season....He could be on their radar??

He would be a good hire. I get some coaches excel at different levels and he was pretty darn good at this level and he's aggressive
