And on 3rd and 6 they drop 10 yards back consistently. Can someone who understands defense explain why you would do that? Especially when the keep throwing short for the first down.

If you listen to the radio broadcast you hear Sam calling out some of the clear technical errors that keep getting made. 

Not injuries or lack of talent but the basics of managing a defense. 

I like coach Spencer and really think injuries and lack of talent have hurt us badly but having anything but a good DC makes it worse. And that's not what we need.

We need someone who’s aggressive and gonna bring some swagger back. Who wants to play in the soft zone defensive scheme. Not saying we need to blitz on every play, but definitely about 10 times as much as we currently do.

Yes, it was just painful watching us drop 8 on 3rd and 12, and watching their QB run for 21, for example. Many similar situations in this game as well. Maybe the fact that we got beat deep so often early in the season influenced this soft defense we're seeing now? Just brutal watching ECU come through on so many 3rd & 4th down conversations. Bringing Spencer back won't be a popular move.

Need a younger DC that brings high energy like Allen and more aggressive at times.

The defense has had 3 turnovers, plenty of stops and even score a td in one of the last 2 games. The offense needs to do better.

They’ve also given up a ton of yards and a ton of 3rd and longs. Both the offense and defense pooped the bed in the 2nd half.
