I've never been a fan of us going Big 12.... Texas and Oklahoma leaving shows its instability... very reminiscent of when everyone bailed on the Big East and we joined... we all know how that worked out

Not strictly true.  When the subject of renovations came up, UCF tried to squeeze the city for a bigger slice of revenue for UCF games as well as UCF specific improvements and the city said no.  So UCF dreamed up a crazy financial scheme and nearly went bankrupt building their own cheapo stadium.

Yep, I addressed this more fully in another reply.  Renovation discussions several years earlier prompted UCF to run off and build a stadium with aluminum foil.

I agree with you.  On my previous post, If I implied that we should not build the OCS, that was not what I meant.  We need to build it.  As stated "Good leadership makes decisions based on 3 to 5 year timelines"  We should have built the IPF 4 or 5 years ago and have the stadium by now.  That would have helped with recruiting and our product on the field.  However, we are now left behind.  USF leadership has dug a hole that we may not be able to get out of.

There will always be conference realignment every few years.  Just look back at the last 100 years of college football.

Agree, but the current USF leadership was not here 4 or 5 years ago.  Scott, Kelly, Weatherford, Law....all new.

Conference expansion not done.  Big 12 said they will expand again.  USF got the memo.

And with AAU on the horizon, we can think bigger than Big 12.

Let's go!

Our lack of commitment to athletics has now manifested into USF being left behind in conference expansion.  UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, and BYU are headed to the Big 12 conference with an announcement expected Friday.  For years, our facilities have been and are inferior to those schools being chosen for the Big 12, resulting in poor recruiting and a terrible product out in the field.  Recruiting talent from now on will take a bigger hit.  Why would a recruit want to play football for USF if they can attend UCF and play in the Big 12?  I now see why the OCS announcement was made yesterday.  The board of trustees new that USF was being left behind in the Big 12 expansion and to soften the blow to alumni and donors, the stadium announcement was thrown out there.  I’m an alum that has supported the program since the beginning with season tickets and countless donations.  Too late USF, this really hurts.

Facilities weren't the issue.  The fact that we have SUCKED for 3 (or 4) straight seasons is the issue. In BOTH men's basketball and football

That's right!  We can either go home and mope about it.  Get drunk and fat and surf porn and feel sorry for ourselves...

or, we can shave, get a haircut, figure out how to make more money, start hitting the gym harder, get our teeth fixed, get some nicer clothes...so the next time we have the chance, we don't get passed up by some other school with better game.

Possibly, the Admin/Athletics/Board got a rude wakeup call when the B12 passed USF by..?

It’s possible. But I think they’re trying to placate folks, so they keep their wallets open.

UCF wasn’t looking at all their options. If the citrus bowl wasn’t available they could’ve played at haggarty or Oviedo high school. I’m sure those would’ve been viable options for them
