The new standard: Didn't suck as bad as last week.

That's an okay standard for this team right now. The question is how much less will the team suck each week and at what point does sucking less suddenly turn into not sucking anymore. At that point the standard can be rethought: How much better is the team than last week?

Me too.  I think the UF fans felt sorry for us and were nice lol.

When we kicked the first FG I said Gators must suuuck, we scored. The people in front of me just took it good naturedly.

It was fun reading the 69 pages of posts. Left halftime and will watch 2nd half based on what you guys have written.

My bestfriend is a gator alum and went 06 to 09 there. I told him every touchdown we score is 3 losses for the gators this year. So I think they will be a 6-6 this year. They couldn't blow us out and they were trying. We are that bad.

final stats - seem to differ with what is on espn box score

The Oline got better with sacks allowed. UF had 6 last week and only 1 against us. Last week they allowed 0 sacks. If they can reduce the tackles for loss and improve the run game blocking we will be ok.

The defense 3rd and 4th down stops is improving. I think we were either 50% or worse last year and last game.

We called plays to get the ball out of Fortin's hand as quick as possilbe.  Of course, McClain is allusive so he can avoid some of the rush.

Our TFLs allowed is pretty high as well. If we can cut it to 4 or less while still allowing only 0 or 1 sack then Ill be happier.

That's why I think the less sacks is more about the playcalling and less about the O-line playing better.  Also part of why I think McClain is a better choice of QB

I can say thats one thing the entire board agrees on. McClain is definitely the best option. I still like Marsh as well and hope we can keep him in case we lose the other QBs to the portal or an injury to McClain.

The entire board does not agree with this.

The entire board probably agrees that McClain is the best future option. Currently, it is no where near an agreement that McClain gives us the best chance to win in 2021. This week, by QBR standards, Fortin was 18% below average. McClain was 92% below average. Just for point of reference:

There are six steps to building QBR:[4]

  • Each QB "action play" (passes, rushes, sacks, scrambles, or penalties attributable to the QB) is measured in terms of the expected points added (EPA)
  • Adjust for the difficulty of each play. EPA is adjusted based on the type and depth of a pass, and whether the QB was pressured.
  • If there is a completion, he only is credited for the typical number of yards after the catch (passer rating takes all yards into effect) based on the type and depth of the pass
  • There is a discount on garbage time, or a time where the score is out of reach near the end of the game.
  • Opponent adjustment: More credit is given with tougher defenses and vice versa.
  • QBR averages the adjusted EPA per play and transforms it to a 0 to 100 scale, with 50 being average.
