GAME DAY vs. Florida USF opens its 25th home campaign welcoming the Florida Gators to Raymond James Stadium for the first time to play the Bulls. It will mark the 45th time for the Gators to play in Tampa, which includes five Outback Bowl appearances in Ray Jay, plus games at all four of Tampa’s major football venues (Plant Field, Phillips Field, Tampa Stadium, Raymond James Stadium). HOME OPENERS: USF won its home opener and coach Jeff Scott’s USF debut last year vs. The Citadel, 27-6. The Bulls are 22-2 all-time in home openers, including an 80-3 demolition of Kentucky Wesleyan in the progam’s opening game in the old Tampa Stadium in 1997. The Bulls’ losses in home openers have come to #17 Wisconsin (2019) and McNeese State (2013). GETTING THE GATORS: USF sports teams have won their last two meetings with the Florida Gators, including the nationally ranked women's soccer team posting a 2-1 victory over Florida in their 2021 debut in Tampa and the baseball team downing No. 15 Florida, 5-3, on its way to winning the 2021 NCAA Gainesville Regional and making the program's first ever NCAA Super Regional appearance. Both programs won AAC titles last year, the fourth straight for soccer. NEAR SELLOUT: As of Sunday, the game was within a couple thousand tickets of selling-out 65,857-seat Raymond James Stadium. USF is reserving 13,000 seats for USF students in the north endzone. The crowd figures to be USF’s largest since 61,665 attended the Bulls clash vs. Florida State in 2016. USF drew 46,704 to take on Wisconsin in 2019. USF’s record home game attendance is 69,383 vs. Florida State in 2012 and 67,012 vs. West Virginia in 2007.
