I have the same prediction I have had for over 15 years of following USF football - we are going 12-0.

6 wins.... invite to a toilet bowl, and we play well and are in a great position for 2022

What I find the most reassuring is Cade's stranglehold on the starter spot since the Spring. It tells me that he clearly separated himself from the other QBs. What little I have seen from Marsh/McClain/Williams leads me to believe that Cade is more than  serviceable and might even be above average.

The key to the season is going to be scoring points in bunches. We have to protect the ball and take the pressure off of the defense. I think the defense will be improved (painful to try and think of a circumstance where they are not better), but how much improvement remains to be seen. We will likely need to score 30+ to win most weeks. I think we have some playmakers on offense. The RB room is full of a lot of good players, but no one that I believe will be elite. The WRs leave a little something to be desired with no clear cut #1.

CJS and his staff's coaching mettle will be put to the test this season. We can't afford for them to be bad at play calling. They have to understand the personnel they have and call the game according to the performance of the players. Too often (CWT's early times here) we see mediocre coaches trying to fit square pegs into round holes. If CJS and his staff can show adaptability (I think there were signs of it last season) then I could see us get into that 4-6 win range. We just don't have the talent yet to expect to win 7+ games, IMO.

I'm still concerned with our DL, LB'ers, and how well this OL will protect Fortin. My expectation is to see better play out of our offensive and defensive units. I think we eek out 4-5 wins.

I predict 4 wins this season. 5 would be impressive. 6 wins to get us to a bowl game would be a fantastic turnaround, but that to me would be a "stretch" and shouldn't be expected. CJS still has a LOT of work to do, but the foundation is being set, and the culture is taking shape. We are witnessing the building of greatness. It will be a long term change; this season won't yet be the wins that will prove it. We will see signs, but it's much too soon for the validation wins.
