Until the OC starts putting in some plays that are designed to keep the defense honest (Like some screens and maybe draws/delays) I would think they would blitz all day. I would expect them to challenge us to try to beat them by trying to throw downfield. That part is on the coaching staff to put McCloud in the position to play winning football. McCloud played decently. At least he was able to complete some nice passes consistently. Not sure if that translates into success in the W-L column, but at least has shown he can do the minimum. Very good point. A few screens were attempted but not much success and the RBs would run into the blitz on draw plays (although there were a few successful draws). It will be interesting to see if they can improve in those areas. Temple’s offense runs similar to Cincy. We played decent defensively against Cincy so maybe that will translate. At this point I am more concerned about the defense. Edited October 12, 2020 by NewEnglandBull

All we need is a crash test dummy

That one play where he scrambled away from a sure sack was Grothe like. The O-line blows. That is by far our biggest flaw.

And if I recall correctly, that was another of those plays where he got out of the pocket but had nowhere to go with the ball because of the receivers not working hard enough to get open for him ... On one of those scrabbles I saw on the replay a WR simply stopped. It was such a joke. Further the WRs look slow. This will be an immediate need with recruiting/transfers. Well many on this board might find the honesty refreshing. On O everything begins and ends with the qb. So if we suck, it’s because he sucks. If we are killing it, it’s because he’s killing it.
