Thank goodness that this season doesn't count and is pretty much only extended exhibition games for us.  All the players will have another year if they so desire, even if they are seniors.

However that being said, I myself am SURE that CJS will be able to recruit his own idea of talent and piece this team together better after this year.

I also hope that CJS instructs the players on this team to NEVER Come here to read anything about football if they know about the site.  Lots of people on this board have no shame and are disgustingly condescending to the students (KIDS!!!) on this team.  Hate armchair quarterbacks who bad mouth players at this level who seem to be trying their best.

I dont understand why people 19-22 should be free of criticism when they are getting an opportunity to go to college for free and play on a platform like this.

That being said, Nick Roberts was completely embarrassed in the 2Q when ECUs RB stiff armed him on the way to the endzone. That honestly seemed like a lack of effort. I hyped up Roberts this offseason too

Obviously CJS is much higher on McCloud than many of us are watching him in his 2nd season. Yes, he did play somewhat better yesterday but mostly, I think he is very predictable for a defense. With a stable of 5 QB's 2 with starter experience McC is the best we have? QB wasn't are only problem for sure..our bad seems to be all over the field. The flash of good plays and high points make you kinda sorta hopeful but..

Did you watch the game last week? Didn’t several different QB’s play....Which one do you want to play Other than McCloud? HONESTLY AND FACTUALLY DEFEND YOUR STANCE.

No different style of offense would be better...this Oline is NOT GOOD

Did any of them play for more than 1 quarter? QBs need more than 1 or 2 drives to settle in.

I also believe the issues on defense are not fixable. They lack size plain and simple. This defense gets pushed around at an alarming rate

Roberts is decent at times but he is an example of not having much to replace him with at certain points in the game.

He is a little guy playing up a weight class, I did this my sophomore year in wrestling and it looked exactly like him on the stiff arm.  If you look around the field we have numerous Nick Roberts, kids playing against bigger bodies.  He can’t take the punishment and after a while you find someone to block you so you can avoid theses hits.

I sat through the whole thing.... defense was an absolute disaster. They were getting owned 1 on 1 all night.  Line was getting man handled like they were 14.  Hampton and Sails watched them catch balls all night from 10 ft away.

Hopefully sails is a better mayor than dback.

I dont understand why we cant just give another QB the game. I'm so sick of watching McCloud run our offense. Johnson, Fortin, I honestly wouldn't care if they ran wildcat all night, it isnt like McCloud can throw anyway at least youd have a real athlete.

Also what a disappointment Sails and Hampton have been this year.

I guess my only reply would be if you cannot complete 74% of 5 or less yard passes then we would be in big trouble. A wide open 5 yard pass led to 80 yards of that 300. He gives up in the pocket far too easily and doesn’t give any receiver an opportunity to get open. If he is under pressure there is no chance of completing a  pass.  I don’t disagree that the coaches probably think he is our best option but that is also the curse. He is terrible and is our best option.

I like this, this is analogous to those who sat on our 7-0 start that one CCS season. Sure, alone the win/losses were spectacular, but the nuts and bolts of those 7-0 were ugly and everyone knew it was smoke and mirrors. McCloud may have up big numbers, but it came from those gimme passes and a big run. He doesn't have what it takes at this level.

I'm waiting to see a few pick 6's when opposing defenses jump those quick passes behind the line of scrimmage. McCloud can't throw the intermediate/long pass so smart defenses can likely play press coverage and stack the box.

Like every other team left on our schedule because they are all a good 10 points better than ECU?

I've only seen their football performance criticized and that is fair to me. Nobody is saying they are gutless, or horrible people. They are merely saying that our players are not at the necessary talent level and are not performing at AAC level. These are not damning moral judgements.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
