I'll cut the kid a break...see how he looks this season. All 3 likely to play so we will see if one looks best.

A moderate runner so even when he did escape he didn’t get far and arm strength was questionable. I don’t get it. 1

I question if he even has the build to play the sport. If you can't take a hit, you may want to pick up another sport. Now that could be a legit issue is if he can take a whole season of abuse behind our o line.

Perhaps that is why he put on almost 15 lbs? Edited September 9, 2020 by NewEnglandBull

Well, I am willing to give him a shot before dumping on him “before” the first game under new leadership. I seem to remember Grothe did not have great arm strength and did pretty well. The issue is accuracy and this is something correctable with the right coaching.

CJS will put the best man on the field for Cincinnati.

Grothe's value was in his intangibles and escapability as anything else. It is also a wild swing downgrading a returning QB who had crap coaching and was injured. While, at the same time, supporting two QBs who were were not good enough to make it with their original university and retreated to USF.

It's crazy to me to think that players are who they are the first time they touch the field and will never get any better. Is McCloud the answer? Who knows but to outright right off an player so young and raw is foolish imo.
