I 100% get your point and understand your point 1) Any coach we get, is a temp job. Including Larry Scott.. they are gone in 3-4 years (noted) 2) Since they are going to leave in 3-4 years anyways, it's silly to give that opportunity to a previous player and coaching assistant from USF. It's better to give that money and opportunity to a candidate from any other college (LSU, Clemson, FAU, etc)... but not one that was on the USF football team (noted) Got it... loud and clear the guy isn't qualified. I graduated from USF. I would stay at the job forever. Does that make me a viable candidate? I wanted Calvin Magge back before we hired Holtz and again when we hired Taggart. He was connected to the university and was QUALIFIED. Larry Scott is not

If Scott is the best candidate bring him on if the not I don't want to take a guy a step down just because he's a USF guy. One thing you can't take away from him, and it's on his resume... he was here during our inception, and was part of the USF coaching staff at our peak Sep 6th 1997 - on the field 2007 when we were ranked #2 - part of the USF coaching staff 2018 - joins UF on two amazing Gators seasons That's gotta mean something.... that's gotta hold some weight or water in the eyes of the decision makers

But HC is a BIG jump from position coach.

Absolutely... but he's got 11 years of experience in the USF program 4 as a player, 7 in the coaching ranks He's been part of USF football, longer than the last 3 coaches we've had combined

His failure of an offense at Tennessee where he was the offensive coordinator? The multiple years of experience as a position coach? His experience says next step is OC. IF we hire him as HC we have no guarantees he will stick around after two "successful" seasons. Can he be a candidate? Sure, why not. Is he the front runner? Hell no.
