I would be OK with Scott...  What some people are missing here is that he would be the HC... not the OC. He wouldn't be calling plays.

Honestly, sometimes I think those "great" coordinators don't make the best head coaches... they have a hard time getting out of "their space" and looking at the big picture. Specifically, I would say offensive coordinators struggle at that. Between college and NFL, there are so many failures that were thought to be the next hot thing since they were good offensive coordinators. As a dolphins fan... I'll say Adam Gase... you know, he made Peyton Manning great for that one season he had with him and then he was supposed to be a great head coach... he's not.

It obviously can work out, but, it's not a given. So... if Scott can bring in a good OC and DC, he could be fine here. Just because he has run a pro-style offense doesn't mean that the OC and personnel here doesn't go a different route... those teams he was part of at USF were spread-option for the most part with Grothe and Daniels. It's not like it's completely foreign to him.

Is he my first choice? Probably not... I want CJL back (with Scott as HCIW, sure). I would have to hear some other names that we seriously think we can get to see if Scott rises to the top for me... Clemson coordinators? Maybe better, but, I am not sure that they are a legit option for us. I'd rather have Scott than Kiffin I think.

His son, Larry Scott III, is now on staff as a Defense Quality Control Analyst.

That's mind blowing to me that Larry Scott has a son that is coaching. He literally is the spitting image of the Larry I remember playing with 23 years ago. It seems like time stood still - but in reality, that makes Bulliever really f'en old... and Smazza is still banging younger broads in LA. Respect.
