Just read Joeys article. He says Chuck had put himself between a rock and a hard place. He says that while no one is saying it’s a must win it’s in the atmosphere.

That is quite a big gap from number 1 to number 2 (much wider than from 2 to 3) if two is good then 1 has to be great.

Hindsight being 20/20 it doesn't seem like it would have been a horrible idea to have let that play out.
