In essence he is saying that if it’s good enough for ND to have won a conference championship then it’s good enough for us...meanwhile they have won much more than that. Which makes the statement laughable. For them it is all or nothing and one of the reasons they are not in a conference (and I don’t think ND should have that luxury). Bell is clearly a great coach--- over three conference championships and a national championship. I hear Notre Dame has their eye on him. Just kidding along with the line of the thread. Bell is a good person-- he has a long history in football as a player and now as a coach. Was he qualified to take the current role? Not on paper in many peoples eyes. But when it is a long time friend hiring you, some of that stuff can be over looked. If he fails-- it isn't a damning of Bell as much as it is on CCS because it was his decision to bring him in to this role Edited September 12, 2019 by MikeG

That seems low. I made assumptions; often there is a clause for taking a head coaching position.

I would, we're not exactly flush with cash as an athletics department and going indy would only exacerbate the $$ problems. It would kill the program Also name a successful program that's indy that isn't the flagship university of a major religion or a service academy. I'll wait Edited September 12, 2019 by Bull Dozer

You know there once was a group of people that wanted to break away from one of the biggest empires in world history. No one thought they had the power, the economic stature or the alliances necessary to make it on their own but they broke away anyway. They grew their stature, they won their independence and they forged new alliances even with the empire they separated from. They were able to become so powerful on their own that they can even elect reality tv stars to be their President and it doesn’t make a difference. That country was ‘merica and here we know that fortuna while a fickle mistress favors the bold.
