If I remember right, Skip tried to make BJD a pocket passer when he was beat on his feet.  All skip did was beat ND.

But, he did hire Cosh and let him implement that bend don't break BS so...

The BJ pocket passer myth has been busted roughly 114 times.

You’re a day late for August, but will September work?

Lol supposed to be over 100 for at least another week. I think September will do.

IIRC, there was no backup to BJ at QB and Holtz tried to get him to look downfield so as to not risk injury.

So it's not exactly a myth

The stats would say it was never even close to happening. Unless we’re now ripping Holtz for things we think/hope he might have said, but never actually did. And wanting BJ to take fewer hits is hardly turning him into a pocket passer.

Do you have the stats for designed runs vs improvised runs? If not you have the wrong stats to be speaking so definitively when we have a friend of the coach saying otherwise

I must have missed that post, I’ve only ever seen Ricky say xCSH wanted to preserve BJ’s health. Totally reasonable and nothing like turning him into a pocket passer. And if he tried to do it, letting him run 10+ times a game for two years isn’t a very good job designed or not.

But I’ll absolutely defer to his knowledge of the situation.

Really without the designed vs improvised run stats we're all just spinning wheels (not all runs are equal) . Reason is that's what Holtz could control on game day. That is literally the only way he could assert the will to do it without sitting BJ for running which he obviously want going to do with Eveld and Floyd behind him.

I really enjoy TheBullsPen when we are spiralling out of control.  We need a victory desperately on Saturday
