And when did conference championships, Sun Belt or otherwise, come into the calculation?  We have a thread, only a few weeks old that discusses that.  Highly unlikely that the those two conference championships distinguishes FA or FI U from the next team.  

Now, since some of us do think it defines a program - Yes, it would be nice to win, but it means little in the hierarchy of things, i.e. fan attendance at conference games, revenue to conference, etc.

Besides money.. this conference is already pretty close to the big 12 footballwise. One could argue that we are doing very well for what we have to work with. Adding a good program or 3 especially if while simultaneously hurting the MWC would really boost us as a whole.

Besides the only thing that matters, and besides bowl tie ins, and besides history and prestige, and besides national championships, and besides one of the biggest programs in the entire nation, and besides television, and besides every program trying to leave the aac to join the big 12 and besides not one program wanting to leave the big 12 for the aac it’s pretty much exactly the same thing.

I am saying there would no longer be any divisions at all. Aresco has already said this is the way the conference should go.

I'm not saying that the conference championships separate them from the rest of the pack, but for those who think they are garbage, what exactly have we accomplished to top them?  Ideally, it would be nice to add a team that adds value, or raises the profile of the conference, which FAU doesn't do. But how many current G5 teams actually do that? Why would Boise or SDSU pay the buyout to join a conference that would more or less be a lateral move? We might be better off staying at 11, but if we do add a team, who would you want that we are likely to get?
