Well, except I thought the criticism of BB during the season pointed to him NOT going through reads and in fact, staring down the first option much of the time.

Yes, I remember that, too.  How much of that was on the oline?  Hard to go through your progression with a ton of beef bearing down on you.  It will be something to watch for if he gets more time.

Not only staring down receivers but his throwing motion is slow

BB is the only logical choice, he brought us back numerous times the first 7 games with a lot of poise, should fit in well with CKB pro set offense.

I also read CKB's quote that he doesn't need a QB that can throw the ball through a wall, just make the right read and be accurate.

Spurrier's comment was something like - I don't need a pro qb, just one that puts the ball where we want it and on time.

Hey! If I remember the comment AND who said it, I'm doing good.

What the heck is all this logical talk? Clearly Battle & McCloud had great talent coming out of HS, and they'd be a better fit for USF's offense!!!

/sarcasm. I hope BB has a breakout year with the new offense. I share concerns about the O line, hope the coaching change there makes a big difference.

I hope its Blake, so we get another 12 opportunities for the coverage to show his dime piece GF.

Did you know she is a model AND a pro surfer???

It will be interesting to see how much Battles/McCloud/Evans can pick up this year. If they don't have the skill set CKB needs, he's going to have to be very active in the recruiting of both incoming freshmen and grad transfers.

Looking back at Battles highlight tapes, he looks like he can at least make 1/3 field reads. I looked at McCloud's highlights as well as some of the regular game film I had access to in order to refresh my memory about his playing style.  Reading does not appear to be his strong suit. He decided where he was going to throw the ball before the ball was snapped (for better or worse). But maybe that was what was asked of him.  Evans looks more like a slot receiver than a qb in his highlight tapes. Very similar to Karious Toney for the Gators.  Toney played QB in high school but is much more effective as a slot guy than a qb in college.

I know USF has offered Carson Beck from Jacksonville (Bama commit) and Tucker Gleason from Plant (uncommitted but with offers from UGA, Vandy, UNC, etc).  The Vandy/UNC offers are important because he is extremely bright and education is very high on his list. Do we know who else they might be looking at?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
