Definitely not the case anymore. Serious question though, can anyone name ANY other team in the FBS who has taken as much of a fall as we have? I honestly don’t think there is. From #2 ranking in the BCS to getting beaten by a CUSA team in a crap bowl game at home (plus everything else in between - McNeese State etc.). Was being in the Big East actually a negative thing which spoiled us as a fan base?

FYI, their reward is to play WMU in the Potato Bowl. So our situation is not ideal but l would say their situation is worse.

NO, we just totally squandered any opportunity while UCF made moves.

Was being in the Big East actually a negative thing which spoiled us as a fan base? The fact that you started this thread shows that the answer to your last question is a resounding "yes". There are plenty of programs, a lot already mentioned, that have had a bigger fall. We're a football program that's never finished higher than 3rd in our conference, ever. The last half of this season has been extremely tough, but hardly catastrophic in light of our history ..... or rather lack of a history. We went through a setback in our development with Skip but Willie was able to turn things back around. Next year will tell us if we've hit another set back or not ....
