The old guy conservative football mentality has no place in today's game.  Coaches like Strong might get you a couple good win-loss records at face value but they are too stuck in their ways and refuse to grasp the changes that are happening in football.

Really disappointed that our athletics program still doesn't have the foresight to see this.

I dont think age is the final factor....it is a conservative run offense that is dead in college football and Strong to date hasn't shown he is willing to change his offensive philosophy of safe and slow paced football on offense.

Taggart was one of the youngest, and he tried a similar type of offense for 2+ years.  Just not a good fit for our personnel.

Go back and watch the games. Our offense was up tempo, it just tried to run first. We weren’t very good at blocking the run or the pass and tried to run the same play over and over again. He went out and got Gilbert because the Briles inspired offense he ran, ya know, the same one Kendal Briles runs. The problem is that Phillip Montgomery was the person running the offense at Tulsa, not Gilbert and Gilbert isn’t very good at it.  Although if look up articles on Gilbert outside of the TDS, you’re gonna find a lot of articles on how consistently good his offenses are. It’s like the rest of the nation blames our struggles on how young our team was, go figure. I don’t think strong as stuck in his ways as every one assumes. Does he like to keep his defense in good situations? Yes, is he conservative at the end of halves? Yes. But that’s not why we lost 5 games, bad offense was.
