Let's all hope for a Temple 2017 type game. The sting of Temple beating us the year before hung with the team all off-season and you could tell that they couldn't wait to payback that pain. Hopefully the team feels the same about the Houston loss last year and comes out firing on all cylinders. We CAN win this game, but, we'll have to play better than we have been playing.

1.  Replace Ed Oliver's jersey Vaseline with Crazy Glue.

2.  Give Mike White the start at QB.

3.   Play game at the Astrodome.

Please!  I couldn't stop seeing that!  One of two worst moments of the year.

Blitz 10 guys and drop one guy into coverage...Don't let the ball pass the line of scrimmage...In fact, we should just do that the whole game.

1- need some guys to get healthy. Bell at RB, Yates at DL, Sawtellle at LB probably most important.

2- will need to help the OL, probably play a second TE to block.

3- need to threaten off tackle runs every once in awhile. Although we ran into the middle 50 times last year we had some success when we at least faked a jet sweep. I don’t think we can run wide on UH but at least enough off tackle to get their line moving laterally instead of just standing there.

4- need to spy King and keep him contained.

BTW, I expect the defense to play less aggressive to avoid giving up big plays and forcing UH to drive the ball methodically. I would be surprised if we blitz much.

On Houston's board they expressed some concern on protecting the edge. This game will truly show if Gilbert is ready for the big time. You have played this defense before and know that the HB dive didn't work when we had a very dynamic backfield. I would like to see some formations where we have Cronk and Ford (or Bell) lined up split beside BB with one leading blocking to the edge for the other. McCants is a beast blocking downfield, but he does so a little better in space rather than right off the line. Line him up in the slot and let him pick up the LB that will be trying to run the play down.

I'm hoping to see some intermediate passing this game. This can't be like Tulsa where we are throwing up nothing but 40 yard bombs hoping to get lucky. Mitch Wilcox is a match-up nightmare for LBs. I would also like to see McCants going across the middle and some more (any) screen passes out in space to the RBs.

On defense, I hope we can do a better job being patient and playing disciplined, assignment football. I agree we have to spy the QB. I wish Vincent Davis was a little more game ready, as he would be the perfect spy for King. A few bone-jarring Davis hits would hopefully make King a little bit cautious when taking off to run. I think Sawtelle is the most important player that we were missing last week. He may not be great, but he is definitely the best MLB we have.

My brain says we lose by 17, but my heart is saying we win by 3.

If we need TFLs on 1st and 2nd downs and force King to throw on 3rd and long. To me that's by far #1

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
