One way to test this theory would be if they bothered supplying this number for the 2007 WVU game. I get that the place was totally full-- and they announced something like 67K on the scoreboard. But did they also have the information/number JK has been reporting? Did any reporter bother checking that during those years we were doing so well with crowd size?

Maybe a more recent example would work-- like the home game against FSU. That was close to sold out if memory serves.

Maybe we should start taking that initial number as the real attendance? Not sure-- sometimes it seems way more than the eyes see. There has to be a reasonable approximation method.

Yeah it is interesting wonder what real number was reported back then. Possible Joey is fake news lol.

 

Found a article from Joey...the actual attendance for Wvu was 61,664...that game was sold out...5,336 short...hmm that is less than student section.

You do know the difference between announced and actual attendance, don't you?  Maybe not since we seem to be the only FBS school that has our actual announced.

Not only that it's the home opener after the 13-0 season.  They're still riding that wave.  But you're right, that's not even close to full

If they can make a dinky OCS look full, we can too. Seriously, who wouldn't want a 13-0 USF with an OCS? Give us a 45k stadium, make it real nice. Football attendance is declining, we shouldn't expect to be able to buck that nation wide trend without a conference change.

 

 

And we can also force Joey to file FOIA for the scanned ticket numbers.

Not sure when this was taken?  My guess is during half time. It was definitely a good place to escape the heat for 10 mins with the kids and not miss the action.

No way UCF had 43,269 in actual attendance. The stadium only holds 44,206 (per Wikipedia) and there are way more than 937 empty seats in this pic.

No one reports actual attendance, reported attendance is the industry standard and all that has ever mattered.

It does matter if you're the one selling parking, concessions and alcohol.  I agree distributed should be the only count that is externally reported.  However, we find ourselves in the unusual situation that actual attendance is a publicly available number due to how fees are legally charged by our community stadium.
