Billy Mohl would have to be pinching himself if he goes into the 2019 season with Joe Genord AND Shane McClanahan still on the roster.

Wow...very surprised this is not moving forward. Does anyone know how he would be used by USF next year? Does he have to come back to USF? I wonder if he was dissatisfied with his development last year as a USF pitcher.

He'll be USF's Friday night starter unless there is some kind of diamond out there nobody knows about at this time.

I think he is just dissatisfied with the 2.2 million offered vs. the 3 million he thought he would be getting predraft.

So if he doesn’t sign with the Rays, they retain rights to him until 2019 draft, correct?  Meaning he can’t sign any other professional contract, except maybe in Japan or Mexico.  He’ll sign.

nope... if he doesn't sign and comes back to play, the Rays don't retain rights to him.  He goes back into the pool.

But the pool for 2019, right?

If he returns to USF and throws one pitch, he can't sign with someone else as a FA.  I don't think so.

If he doesn’t sign by 5 pm tomorrow, it’s as if he was never drafted.

It used to be you had until the first day of class to sign, but they changed it. Now if you don't sign by the signing date, the team forfeits your rights, they get hit with the equivalent bonus amount slotted for your pick whether they spend it on other draftees or not this year, but they get the another pick in next year's draft the pick after the one the player was selected. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what Shane's pick was, but say he was 27, they would get the 28th pick and their regular first rounder.

Point of info. I believe he was 31st.

So he could go unsigned past the deadline and sign with another MLB team?
