I guess that's my point, why does the Greek system NEED to do anything? They're doing exactly what they want to do and exactly what works best for them. I'd also be willing to bet they think their contributions to the university far outweigh those of football in the past, present, and future.

My point is if they don't want to they can cut the feigned exasperation etc that inevitably follows when this happens every year.   This isn't a priority to the Greeks and that's fine but they really should just own it......

The sororities are pretty clear on their position when it comes to rush vs. football. We're the ones debating the topic this morning, not them.

Having never been in a fraternity, what would prevent the game from being made part of the rush activities?

Nothing. Fraternity rush never conflicts with a football game. Potential new members are only instructed to not drink with fraternity members at the games because it could sway them and give the young men the wrong outlook on what the experience is (supposed to be) about.

Sorority recruitment, however, is more structured and does pull interested women away because of said structure. Schools with more established football cultures have come up with different solutions to avoid conflicting scheduling but that had to start from the top and required an investment by admin to allow for said solutions to be implemented. (I hope everyone following this “discussion” had a productive and stress free day. ☺️)

I'm all out of outrage for the annual "Greeks missing first game" announcement.

My sentiments exactly.  I'm wore out on this issue.

Just to be clear, if I'm understanding Hyper the several times he repeated it, it's not the "Greeks", it's just the sororities ....

Why do the Greeks always do this?

But if there is no tail at the game will the frats still go to the game?
