at the moment? the guy has 58 career receptions between this year and last. he is their third leading receiver.

he had 2 pass attempts this year before our game.

even Strong finally admitted that he should have sent a corner blitz on him on 4th and 24.

at least he is starting to take some responsibility unlike some other coaches.

Had Strong called a blitz, "(King) wouldn't have been able to even roll, he would've had to stop and sling it," Strong said. "There's so many things. … I told the guys after the game that this is on me because, you know what, the fourth-down play, we probably should've done something a little different."

Well alot of folks said he never takes responsibility. Guess that's out of the window now. What's next?

Ive been to Houstons blogs and there been rumbling from the fans to start him. He was playing reciever out of neccesity and becajse he is just that great an athlete. Unfortunately we was on the receiving end of his coming out party.

it's good that our head coach is taking responsibility. that's what leaders do. they don't point fingers and place blame. they deflect it. now he needs to tell his coordinators.

So what has happened with USF's defense late in games? Defensive coordinator Brian Jean-Mary believes it's about execution, or lack thereof.

"I know the scores have kind of picked up in the second half, but it's really come down to fundamental errors more than just defensive assignments and stuff like that," Jean-Mary said

Funny your head coach said it was a bad call on 4th and 24.

Prime example: On the Bulls' final drive, 16 seconds remained on the play clock when they ran their third-and-8 play, a 4-yard D'Ernest Johnson run (USF's sixth consecutive run play). When Emilio Nadelman followed with a 30-yard field goal, 1:46 remained in the game.

"Just got to be aware of it and just see," offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert said.

"That's obviously something you can be good with and be better with. But at the end of the day, you've got to go execute. That's what we needed to do at that moment. Rather than getting three, you'd like to go down there and score (a TD) in that situation."

you really think running a draw on 3rd and 8 gives us the best chance to score a TD? How many 3rd and 8's do you make on draws and you blame that on execution?

so the blogs were calling for him to start.... I remember a time when people on here wanted Bobby Eveld to start over BJ Daniels.

If he were wayyyyy better than the other two he would have been playing ahead of them.

we got punked by a QB who had thrown 2 passes all year. probably didn't even get many 1st team reps at all in practice.

Didn't say it was a "bad call", he said "we probably should've done something a little different." Classic example of 20/20 hindsight. They knock the ball down like they should have, there's no mention of a corner blitz being a better call. Players were in perfect position but did not execute.

I'm not sure anything he said would satisfy some.

always semantics with you.

players were not in a perfect position. Hoggins is 5'8" tall. He was not going to win a jump ball against a 6'2" WR

they had a LB and Hoggins covering two 6' + receivers that were both behind them. Tell me who wins the jump ball a majority of time in that situation?

There were like 4 defenders in good position to make a play on the ball. They just didn’t. Still don’t know how the pass snuck through all the jumping defenders.

watch the play again. Augie, Hoggins and Hampton were the only three that even had a shot. Hampton was screened off by Sanchez though. The two receivers were behind both Augie and Hoggins. Hoggins is not going to win a jump ball against a 6'2" WR and honestly a LB against a WR for a jump is a mismatch as well.

Fluke plays happen. You absolutely have to pressure a QB that had 2 pass attempts coming into the game so he doesn't have time to roll and set his feet.

Certainly appears that way.
