Go into the next round of tv negotiations with a figure of 8 million per team.  The AAC has solidified itself as the 6th best conference, no question. We have put a team in the NY6 bowl every year except 1. At some point in every season we have 3 teams ranked. There is no doubt we are above the rest of the G5 and we are due a significant increase in tv revenue because of it.  Put in the contract that negotiations can reopen if the conference expands. After the AAC  contract is solidified go after the following schools for football only:

Boise State, San Diego State, Air Force, and Army.

The MWC will not be able to compete with the AAC in tv revenue as they have not made any strides in competition since the formation of the AAC.  It would be financially irresponsible for them to decline an invite if the AAC schools are making 4 times what the MWC school's are. Now you have solidified yourself with 2 more major markets, all of the service academies and greater competition and strength of schedule.  Each year the AAC will start the season with 3 schools ranked and the committee should view a greater strength of schedule for playoff consideration.  Each team plays 7 division games, 2 crossover conference games, 3 ooc games with 1 cupcake and 2 P5 teams.  

Then renegotiate going in with a figure of 15 million but settling for no less than 12 million.   The AAC will be the only conference with coast to coast viewing from Thursday through late Saturday night.

I feel like this is the only way the AAC even sniffs the playoffs.  This would be a solid conference with great value and an undeniable power 6 especially with the added revenue.

During TV negotiations, the broadcasters would tell us if adding team X, would add value.  I don't seeing us adding them in hopes of getting more money.  I think it would have to be a surety that they would add more money.

You gotta earn that revenue through viewership. I would love to have Army and Air Force in the conference, but if you add them, then you have an issue with teams beating up on the military academies late in the year as most teams will already have seen the triple option once (once you see it it's much easier to defend). I can't help but wonder if Navy is regretting their decision a little bit. They've lost their starter and backup each of the last two years to injury. The military academies are great for viewership and they can recruit well where they are, but end of day their top priority is producing military officers, not football players.

That said: if you add three teams, then everyone gets to recruit in Florida and Texas every year and face at least two military academies, one at home, one on the road. Maybe then you can add the Armed Forces Bowl to the lineup and get the Holiday bowl on board. I think many of these lower P5 bowls would jump at the chance to select a military academy every year especially if there's a military base in the area.

Also, Army and Navy are on record as saying they won't move the game from it's traditional date.

Therefore, until this policy changes there is ZERO chance of Army joining the AAC.

Air Force is another story, they would be a good addition

Need to add two Cali schools, not one, so SDSU and Fresno State would be my choices.

That leaves one spot

Not sure about Boise, other teams might fit the AAC profile better: Northern Illinois, Buffalo, UNLV, or Colorado State would all be good choices

Or, maybe Wichita State decides to re-start their football program...

UCF continues to impress and is the easy favorite given the way it is playing but Memphis (8-1, 5-1 out of the West division) and USF (8-1, 5-1 in the East) also control their own destiny for the bid if they win out. The Knights would get both teams at home after Thanksgiving but there’s really not a whole lot standing in the way of the league collecting a nice check and proving they can play with their “Power 6” brothers on a big stage at this point...

I'm thinking the Black Friday game deserves a lot of credit. It had to hype up interest in the AAC Championship game. But most interesting thing I see there is that the G4 combined only managed half the AAC audience. Pretty much confirms there is no G5.

Will need to put these types of ratings together for multiple seasons for it not to be looked upon as an aberration. Contract negotiations start this Jan though so not sure how much these ratings wil help.
