It might be a little early, but he's been punting really well. Any chance he gets into the running for the Ray Guy award?

He's constantly getting punts inside the 20 and the 10, and his average is 42.8.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but our kicker is 100% this year..... Kicking and punting were two things that had me worried, but not anymore.

I seem to recall he started out slow, but he's really come on of late.

Yeah his first game was only like 38 avg punt he has picked it up.

Naddelman also is doing well, special teams in general have been great.

Hernandez and cover team for the punts have been great at pinning the opponent deep in their own territory all year.  Hernandez certainly has a great leg.  Big shout out to him so far, he's been $$$ for us.

Hernandez definitely has been a pleasant surprise. He seemed nervous and shaky in his first game, but has been lights out ever since.

Also, big ups to the kickoff coverage unit. Nadleman is getting good height and better distance on his kickoffs this season. He pretty much gives the other team no choice but to return it and he is kicking into the right corner really well. There is usually one return per game when the other team gets past the 35 yard line, otherwise, we are constantly seeing teams start from inside the 25.

I believe we return 20 out of the 24 starters between offense, defense, and special teams. If we can shore a few things up on the defensive side of the ball, next year could be really special, although I do wish that we had bigger OOC games. On the "bright side" we get Houston in the regular season next year.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
