I wouldn't wonder too long about Fennelly - he's a known commodity.  Don't count on anything from him, no support, no facts, no understanding.

I'm paraphrasing, but someone else on a very similar thread to this said that Orlando is a one-sport town - outside of basketball season there's not much for them to talk about.

Not so much in Tampa.  We certainly have no columnists that love us enough to pimp us the way Beyonce pimps UCF.

That someone was one incredibly astute dude ... Orlando is really just a glorified college town with roller coasters and killer whales. Local critics here have plenty of truly big time sports to bash away at, O-town one, and they couldn't care less if USF makes the jump or not.

Yeah, but Fennely is also a columnist.  USF brings every thing to the table that UCF does.  Every point that was made by Bianchi about UCF could have been made by Fennely in an article about USF, but he hasn't.  I wonder why.

Tampa goofballs like Fennelly will have the Rays, Bucs, Lightning to report on if the Bulls don't move up.

Bianchi isn't in a true Pro town.  College means something to him.

UF, FSU are in places where people go to school and then leave. Miami (Coral Gables) is a place where rich kids go and then go back up north. UCF is more transient with the tourism industry. But Tampa draws people from all of those places who actually have to get jobs so we get fans of a lot of different teams here. With time and winning we will have more fans. The media will cover what sells.

Tampa Bay Times is more worried about FSU, UF fans than USF.

Non-story. All Florida cities are low wage, even for people with college educations.

Tampa has a very large FSU fan base (Hyde Park, SoHo, Ybor)

Ybor? Who the hell with a college degree, FSU or otherwise, lives in Ybor? And Hyde Park is infinitely more UF alumni than FSU.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
