The one thing that may be saving UNC from a complete banhammer is that the sham courses were available to any and all students, not just athletes. I believe if there were a governing body to hammer UNC over it, it wouldn't be the NCAA's spot because of it being a university-wide gimmick.

Some (conspiracy theorists?) think the NCAA is just going to drag their feet as long as necessary until everybody involved has moved on or died and just say there's no point in punishing them anymore

That's exactly what they're going to do. Wait, let me get my tinfoil hat.

I just hope that if it's found USF is treated like the programs that have been caught before. Those other programs are much older at established schools. I hope that that didn't effect those schools and  we end up with a harsher sentence for a similar offense, if something is found.

The Epix documentary "Schooled" tells of the shame classes to get ill educated athletes into the football program, among other things.

Hold on a second. Are you implying that schools are admitting kids based only on their ability to play football?!?

No. I think the thread is about schools admitting kids based on their ability to play basketball. Let's try and stay on topic.

That seems a bit high.

I've been saying it for years...

Athletics should be partitioned from Academics
