Should Bench start?

You honestly cant put it all on the qb. Our ENTIRE OFFENSE was disfunctional. Having a mobile guy like daniels or even quinton flowers could end up adding a little life/dynamics into the offense. ANYTHING at this point would be improvement

White was (IMO) by far our best QB last year.  If it weren't for his second half heroics, we would have went 2-10 again last year.

 

White deserves to go into fall camp as #1, until clearly outperformed.

 

White gets full credit for those comebacks, but sometimes I wonder how Bench would have performed if he was given the opportunity to perform in a panic situation where the shackles and weights of our restrictive and predictable offensive game plan had been removed and abandoned.

Last year's stats show neither one of them should be starting.

 

Mike White 122/242 50.4% 1639 yards 8TDs 7INTs 112.4 Rating

 

Steven bench 49/100 49% 611 yards 3TDs 2 INTs 106.2 rating

 

 

The problem with both is you never know what you're going to get with either QB.  You have good Mike in the second half against Tulsa and SMU.  Then there's bad Mike most glaringly against Cincinnati.  You have good Steve against Cincinnati, and bad Steve against Houston.

^pretty much accounts for the controversy, don't it? Neither is consistent, so that's what I'll be hoping for this year.

Bemch never had even half of the opportunities that White had and never will. As many others on here have said Taggart doesn't seem to like him.

I think in terms of leadership Bench has an edge on White. White gets caught up in head like an emo kid or something sometimes. We need qb who is capable, poised, and can lead. Which means El Chicarito Nuevo (aka Kean) is the answer by default. Who cares if he is a true frosh just let him get out and be somebody 😈
