Didn't he lead the team in sacks & TFL? Hardly irrelevant.

Yeah, there were certainly many more who did less.  I would argue that he had the biggest gap between hype & actual performance.

False. Tyler Roberts gets my vote.   "Bend but don't break"  started becoming a thing singlehandedly due to him getting burned for TD's every ~10 plays.

He's having a great season. Interesting that's he's "played" for all three of our head coaches.

A culture of laziness was built up during the Holtz era. Lynch was running at 50% effort here because it was just a stepping stone to the NFL for him and he could do that under Holtz.

Only one problem with that statement... Who wants to guess what it is?

The highest acclaimed player ever recruited by USF to that point.  Played a couple of series and was worse than Matt Floyd, then disappeared.  Lynch led the team in sacks and TFLs.  I have no idea how people consider that a colossal failure, especially doing that under a completely new coaching staff.  Talk about unrealistic expectations.
 
Lynch was at 50% because of a serious illness before the season, and he was still our best DLineman.

He's not wrong about Lynch being irrelevant here. 

 

That said, good for him for making some noise in the league.

Totally agree. Good for him, hope he enjoyed his time at USF and would encourage others to come here.
