We can bring him back. Someone get the kickstarter running for the bigger than life-size bronze statue. I'll start going through vintage tape to get his exact GPS coordinates from old Tampa Stadium where he called our first TD play so it can be placed correctly. Everyone can gather in a circle before games to hope for return.

If theres any money left over we can approach Outback on starting a Leavitts franchise.

And when we bring him back and he fails we would go down in history are the stupidest athletic program in history.

What a lot of you forget is JL didn't win us anything aside from mediocre midlevel bowl games.

I don't necessarily think he should be brought back here, but "the stupidest athletic program in history" if they did? Just comical. What Jim Leavitt did was put our program on the map. What Jim Leavitt did is UNPRECEDENTED. Took a program less than 15 years old to the #2 spot in the ranking. I don't care if it was only for a week. Beat teams like FSU, West Virginia, Auburn with the program being less than 15 years old. What the heck is the matter with some people when they talk about what Leavitt did here. If you fail to see how what he did here was incredibly impressive you're blind.

Or can you name me another coach who took a program that young to accomplish what Leavitt did? Big time wins against big time ranked programs and oh yea, mediocre midlevel bowl games. Did we go to 5 straight bowl games or something? Sure doesn't look too bad to me right now.....

I'm sorry, what "map" are we on? It's PATHETIC our fans hang on to a blip at the #2 ranking because it translated into nothing.

Yeah, 5 mediocre bowl games and a few nice wins against FSU (who sucked), Auburn, WVU, and some one else. Okay Uncle Rico, thanks for the walk down memory lane but if you are still holding onto three or four decent wins and a week at #2 from five years ago it's time to let go.

Leavitt is the reason the program is where it is...His coaching failed us in all the times that mattered and excelled when it didn't. I would give up every huge win we have ever had for a conference championship. Had he "built" a real program we would have been picked up like every other "program" he competed against and would be in a good conference. HE is one the who got himself fired and ultimately lead to our demise.

Yeah I miss all of those mid season collapses, irrelevant bowl games (which only existed for the sake of money) , and ZERO conference championships. Thanks Jim!

Jesus Christ this board is a broken record that can't let go of the past.

Absolutely.

It is true that, compared to what we have today, the CJL days do appear great. And I wholeheartedly support the idea of getting that "Ranked Number Two" memory put into perspective, which means not trotting it out as some great accomplishment. We were average. For all that great Florida talent that was just oozing football prowess, we never lit it up in the Big East. Never! The mid-season fades were miserable.

No one is saying that CJL did not do great things for the program. Of course he did. And that also needs perspective. He's gone. Outta here. In the past. End of story. Now it's time to move on...enough with the tear stained pillows.

The map we're on now has nothing to do with Jim Leavitt. It has everything to do with Skip Holtz and Willie Taggart. The map Leavitt put us on was getting ranked which gets you noticed by the college football world outside of the state of Florida. Not a ton of people knew who USF was before that. Beating the big programs he did got recruits to notice us and start considering us or committing to us.

Uncle Rico? Are you able to comprehend the fact that what Jim Leavitt did accomplish he did it with a program LESS THAN 15 YEARS OLD??! Are you able to comprehend that what he DID ACCOMPLISH (which you completely ignore for some reason) is UNPRECEDENTED. Let me explain what that means to you.... NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. You don't have to like the man, but to sit here and act like what he did was nothing special is foolish and ignorant.

Trust me.... I've let go of those days because we're no where near those days and to be honest at this rate will never get back. But I will always remember what he did for our program and won't act like he buried us when he didn't. Sounds like you wanted 3 big east championships and 2 BCS wins, one being a national championship, out of a program that again, was 15 years old and what 11 years old for D1 football? You're trashing what he accomplished here and then at the same time blaming him for our demise because he was fired? Sounds to me like you weren't happy at all with our situation and were probably very happy to see him go at the time. Pick which side you want to be on and stick to it.

Leavitt is the reason the program is where it is? Are you on drugs? Skip Holtz is the reason our program is where it is and Taggart is slowly but surely starting to take % away from Holtz as the weeks go by. You'd trade all of those big wins for a conference championship? That's miserable. For a BCS win so would I, but that's not guaranteed. You'd rather lose all those games and possibly end up 6-6 or 7-5 with a big east Title? You're probably one that envy's UCF for beating up on 1-11 teams up and down their schedule in Conference USA for a conference championship. I'll take competing with the top programs in college football all day over winning a conference USA or AAC conference championship against the teams in those conferences.

You sound like an Alabama fan that expects 12-0 every season. 7-5/8-4/9-3 in a P5 conference with wins against big time SEC & ACC schools wasn't good enough for you with bowl games in just about every year?? GET A CLUE.

Judy should be fired and I don't give a rats ass if the judy supporters like it or not

Curios... because of football or something else? I ask because if you feel a university president should be fired over lack of production from football (or even athletics in general) you may not fully comprehend the key objectives of her role.

Being the fastest team from Program being born to a #2 ranking in COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY is not a great accomplishment?! I've heard it all haha.

The real risk is we bring him back and he strikes another athlete. If CJL recognized what he did was wrong and took accountability I'd be all for brining him back. He was a fun coach and taking programs from where we have regressed to the next level seems to be in his wheel house. But you can't compromise integrity for victories.

Holtz team put up 59 vs Tags old team today.  And they won the game.  Pissing on Holtz is getting old.  There just seems to be something inherently wrong with USF Athletics that defies explanation.  He was successful before and after USF.

Leavitt did great things but got fired because he couldn't win games that should be won or win conference titles.  I keep telling you guys that the loss at Rutgers, 31 - 0 was the beginning of the end for him.  Donors that matter were seriously peeved and talk began at that game.  So, although he did great things, people had hopes/expectations of more.  Jim wasn't delivering that so we moved on.  Is 8 - 5 better than we've been?  Sure.  Were we happy being 8 - 5 and not winning a conference championship?  No.  Hindsight is always perfect.

Id love to see it happen but I just don't see it happening. Too much bad blood from the previous breakup to overcome for both sides.
