Memphis is a wild card.  They pushed us around a bit last year, but it seems we have improved a little and they have improved a little too.  Bottom line Taggart has GOT to speed up the development of our young playmakers Bronson and McCants, also push Adams and Davis along.  We've had way too many drop balls with our recievers.  Thor and Reiter HAVE to stay healthy too.

I think we can win the Houston game and SMU game.  But the rest I have some serious reservations.  If we can handle the above points, I think we can make something happen offensively.

Ucif, Tulsa, Houston, and SMU. Memphis could be a wildcard. Cincy and ECU are likely going to be the two most difficult conference games. Thank god we don't play Temple! On flipside Tulane would've have been nice for the w column (and perhaps a road trip).

Hope that there aren't enough 6 win teams for all the slots and they have to take 5 win teams.

Hope we can get to 5 wins and get selected.

With the weakness of the conference, six wins will get us into an AAC bowl. Here is the most likely path to 6 wins:

Expected Losses:

@ Wisconsin

East Carolina

@ Cincinnati

Must Win:

@ Tulsa

@ SMU

Houston

Toss Up (win 1 of 2):

@ Memphis

UCF

Good breakdown.

The way Im looking at it is Wisco and ECU are no doubt loses....

And we need to win 4 out of the 6 of UCF, Memphis, Cincy, Tulsa, SMU, Houston...

gonna be tough and maybe unlikely....but def possible

As much as we all want a bowl game trip, we would likely go to St. Pete. Best case scenario would be Miami. But it sucks to lose bowl games...

..we don't. We will beat SMU and will find a way to beat 1 of Houston/Tulsa/UCF. 4-8.

Before you start making your bowl game plans take into consideration that the Sagarin ratings would have USF favored against Houston and that would be by the slimmest of margins due to playing at home.  The only team that the Bulls rank ahead of in the conference is UCONN and that is by less than two points.  With a ranking of the 172nd best team in college football there is virtually no chance of making a bowl game and any additional wins this year should be considered an accomplishment.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
