Someone get the kid a Publix sub (preferably an anonymous non-booster) and gently remind him that there is no Publix in Iowa.

he's already near some of the best beaches (closer than he would be at the tampa campus), so that wasn't working in our favor

as far as publix, sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone

Who was the Armwood RB that went up there never to be heard from again?

Here's a 2009 report from what happened to Iowa's great 2005 class.  These are the 4-star players (most notably the first one):

Four-star recruits

Kalvin Bailey, RB, Seffner, Fla.: No longer playing football; transferred to North Iowa Area CC, then College of Siskiyous in California, then Hillsborough CC in Florida

Ryan Bain, DT, Bolingbrook, Ill.: Backup lineman at Akron; played 24 games in first two years at Iowa (four starts); arrested for public intoxication, then transferred

Jake Christensen, QB, Lockport, Ill.: Starting quarterback at Eastern Illinois; started for Iowa as sophomore but lost job early in junior season and transferred

Rafael Eubanks, OL, Roseville, Minn.: Starting center, only offensive lineman to start every game this season; has started 36 games in career

Alex Kanellis, DT, Iowa City: Had career ended by head injuries; now coaching at Iowa City Regina

Anthony Moeaki, TE, Wheaton, Ill.: Starting tight end and captain; caught 26 passes this season, 72 in career; semifinalist for the Mackey Award

Dace Richardson, OL, Wheaton, Ill.: Started first eight games this season before breaking ankle; has started 17 games in career

Are you trying to say this class was a failure or a success?

My point was to point out that talented kids leaving the area (even 4-stars) don't always have greener pastures.  I think the coaches here at USF would be more motivated to make it work (like Ryne Giddens from the same school.)

Good luck to him, but don't be surprised if he's a transfer south, somewhere, pretty quickly.  Someone should have paired him up with Rodney Adams on his OV.

Don't say it like it's bad. To some of us that's pretty exotic.
