Harlan was a key member of the negotiation team that helped secure a new 30-year lease at the Rose Bowl http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=207914455

Not necessarily. They are citing a source that is reporting it's us. Looks like crappy reporting from daily bruin. From CollegeAD.com: March 8, 2014 UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA Sources tell College AD Mark Harlan, Senior Associate Athletic Director at UCLA will indeed become USF’s next Athletic Director, and to consider it a done deal. The Official press conference is set for Tuesday.

Harlan looks a little like Dougie 2.0 This comment scares me. Harlan gave the basketball coach a huge buyout clause. To someone who had never proven himself worthy. Shades of Skippy!! How? Because this week the world learned the details of the buyout UCLA added to newly minted coach Steve Alford's contract. In essence, UCLA and Alford agreed that if the coach leaves the school or is fired before April 30, 2016, whichever party initiates the termination will owe the other a cool $10.4 million. Why? "We wanted the commitment to be strong on both sides," UCLA senior associate athletic director Mark Harlan told the Los Angeles Times. "We didn't want him going anywhere." http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/86177/ucla-bruins-have-low-self-esteem Here is a comment on the coach Harlan was responsible for. Sound familiar? If Alford was a competent coach the Bruins would be ranked somewhere in the top-15, still in the conference championship contention and poised to make a run for a protected seed in the West. Instead here we are counting the years till the Alford nightmare is over. http://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla_basketball/2014/3/8/5485852/ucla-basketball-steve-alford-nightmare-washington-state

I guess is what happens when you let VooDoo 5 break your news stories. Here is something else from LA Times that just says USF- Not South Florida. Is there an article up in LA Times? chris foster @cfosterlatimes #UCLA associate AD Mark Harlan has accepted AD position at USF, per person close to the athletic department. It appears that every published article has Chris Foster as it's source. San Fran has pretty well established AD though.
