USF added 2 CB predictions for DW. He is talking to our plyrs and other recruits all day, I think he gets it, even though Shadow apparently can't

I don't think Shadow is missing that Nebraska has had football success, and I can't speak to their academics.

But you're right about Nebraska being bleak, their coach in a weird place and weather in Jan being nasty. I'd add that it appears Nebraska's best football years appear to be pretty far in the rearview mirror.

Hope he liked his visit here enough to come here, work hard & get this OL better.

The gap between their academics and ours is bigger than the one between the two football programs.

what's your basis? Not saying you're wrong, but I'm curious where you get that.

As a side note, does anyone think that academic strength is much of a factor for a JUCO transfer?

Well, they were AAU for about 100 years and only recently lost it on a technicality over their medical school counting as a separate university. But if you want to use something simple, we're #170 in the most recent rankings and they're #101.

OK...now, please answer this: does anyone think that academic strength is much of a factor for a JUCO transfer?

Know I'm not jousting...I respect your posts, and do appreciate your take on the question.

I would say Nebraska's history, fan base, facilities, potential for success the next two seasons, etc. are higher priorities in this case.

I think the biggest thing working against us is the limited time he has. Are we likely to be even a competitive team either of the next two years he has left?

Hardly descibes the gulf you denoted.

Out of literally thousands of schools...69 places is not a big difference. USF has a much lower acceptance rate, similar scores and gpa. I don't see a big gap. USF keeps rising in the rankings. USF may eventually pass Nebraska.

We very well may pass them, but as of right now, our President, provost, board, and everyone else who has input in our strategic plan, just wants to be mentioned in the same sentence as them. Edited by JTrue

Gotta like this kid. Can't blame him for taking free trips to big time football programs...and it will only make him more sure he's made the right choice here...if he sticks. I think he will.

Academically and on the sports gridiron, Nebraska has been places over the last 100 years that USF would love to get a whiff of.

Comparing the prestige is night and day.  I know The Winky only thinks about weather, but most kids aren't that shallow.  And most also realize that winter doesn't last 12 months in Nebraska.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
