I don't care how good or bad you are, there are

No clean programs out there

sounds like an SEC fan

...or someone who works in NCAA compliance, but sure...SEC fan.

The only sketchy thing at USF I've seen is the inflated number of women participating in sports, most notably cross country/track and field. Per certain NCAA rules, in order to have so many men's sports/players, there has to be 'x' amount of women sports as well.

USF has had trouble keeping the ladies' numbers high and they have a giant women's track and field list. Many students have said that they didn't even know they were still on the team, after they had already left.

There's been a few articles on this. here's one that I found: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/26/sports/26titleix.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

I know I've seen another one this year and VD5 has written about it as well. Below are the rosters.

This is the only thing that concerns me, but we're getting away with it so far. I hope we're not paying cash to players. I think it would be program crushing as we are already trying to climb out of our deep hole.

I would take a clean program at this point

Define "clean."

Edit:  Criminal violations or NCAA violations?

I'd take the level of dirt that landed SMU the death penalty.

Recruit kids by giving them contracts and pay them on a weekly basis.  We just need some slush fund boosters.  NCAA violations be damned!!

Clean program. Always. Regardless of result.

This made me laugh. How about just some OCS boosters 1st.

No money under the table, passing grades given, sleeping hostess programs, raping of ball boys, or any other major violations would be my main concerns.  But I would expect a clean program to be one that would adhere to the University's code of conduct, just like any other student body would have to in the university.

So even the minor violations would have to be dealt with accordingly...not brushed away under the rug.

I realized there is no such thing as a "clean" program out there.  It just seems like only the most successful ones are the ones that cheated in some major form or fashion just to win a NC.  Or perhaps they are the most scrutinized, because of their popularity.

In any case, would you as a fan and an alumni take the high road and be okay with a season like this season or would you rather win a NC (and be a part of the success) irregardless of how it was won and then just turn a blind eye to the misconduct?
