Just going to take time to get rid of these players and get in the men CWT wants. Would love to see you go up to Aaron Lynch or Ryne Giddens and call him soft. Just drop back a few steps and they would never get to you

I saw a team that got ran over by a freaking 1AA team they don't look so great though.

His main problem was overpursuit if anything. He seemed very wound up and too excited to maintain focus. Besides, he may not have gotten a sack, but he hit the QB a few times and had the hit of the game. I understand the ******** about Giddins. But back off of Lynch at least for now. That may be one isolated incident that exemplifies what CWT is up against. CWT said the team was 'fragile', and also that players 'quit' on the field. He has an incredible amount of disaster recovery work to do, and it's going to take a long, long time to get it done. While losing may be hard to swallow, it's going to be a part of the overall process going forward. I feel for those who were of the impression that all you had to do to turn it around was plug in a new coach and we're off to the races. I wouldn't feel comfortable calling out players who, in my opinion as a guy in the stands, quit. I'd leave that to the coaches, the ones with a real finger on the pulse. Interesting you mentioned the "bypass" - I had a totally different interpretation of that story... that one of the players actually cared so much about getting our ass handed to us that he was just that distraught. The look on TV was that many in the stands quit too. +

Last year we'd hear about young guys making plays in practice or in limited playing time, then they would never get on the field. If someone is going to have a better attitude or bring more passion to the game, put them on the field. CWT has talked about getting players to #dosomething. Now we'll see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

Wasn't he one of the players that walked off the field last year before the game was over? Andre Davis is that last player that would quit on this team. He is a Tampa kid and loves USF. The player that walked off the field last year was Marcus Shaw and he played his butt off on Saturday. Looked like Dre quit to me as well. That guy is talented as can be, but he does not give 100% every play. That was an issue in my eyes last year as well.

It's just blatantly obvious -- missed assignments and coverages is one thing, that's football IQ and being in the right place at the right time. Missed tackles, you can teach that and remedy it quickly But man -- just watching some of those aforementioned happen, and witnessing some of the reactions from the players who tried to make those stops was absolutely stunning. I've never seen so much apathy after attempting to tackle, block, hit, or play any type of defense. ...Missing tackles and just standing there waiting for the teammate to come in and save the day ...Rushing the QB and quitting half way through ...Running after the ball carrier and because you're on the wrong side of the play, just stopping and letting someone else take over "I tried and I failed" Talent you can coach up. Leadership is everything. I've seen more done with less. No coach should let this kind of piss poor attempt to play football happen under their watch, regardless of who they play

Identifying poor play is one thing but calling players out like this is for quitting, which I think is one of the worst things an athlete can do, is total ******** .... but carry on if it makes you feel better. Maybe i could've worded it better but as someone said, tags used the word "quit." And youre right. Maybe the players didnt quit. They were just shellshocked about what happened in the first half and it certainly didnt help that floyd threw a pick on the first play of the second half. Imo tho, the biggest quitters were the fans. Booing at halftime???? Of opening game??? Oh that pissed me off. I was in 109 and was shocked at what I heard. The coach is battling to get these guys working together and he has to deal with that from the fans on top of it? You could just feel the whole energy die and part of that is on the fans. Seeing a stadium of fans probably would not fix what was broken that game, but it might have helped some guys dig deeper instead of giving up. I would guess there were less then a 1000 in the stands in the last min of the game or at least it seamed like it. Hard to play hard for people who have already given up too.
