You are exactly right. Big fail by the upstairs crew for not being all over a review of that play, and you have to give props to McNeese for hustling to get the snap off. They were certainly aware they caught a break.

Having said that, he wasn't entirely accountable for his own fumble -- asked if a McNeese player had stripped the ball, as replays indicated: "Honestly, I don't know. I can't explain, because I feel I didn't fumble. I don't want to talk about it, really." Asked to clarify, he said he thought his knee was down, though the fumble was reviewed by officials and the initial ruling (a fumble before his knee touched the ground) was upheld.

I'm sorry but that is not accountability. He let that guy take the ball right out of his hands and just acts like there was no mistake. This is the problem with our team IMO.

Have to agree, WWMJD. That sounds like the Shaw that stormed off the field last year. Could be his personality.

The only good thing is that he was pissed off about it.  It bothered him that he lost it.  He was carrying a football around with him to practice holding on to the ball.  That was a bad fumble but I think he will work hard to not let it happen again.  He ran his tail off.

as for that incomplete pass on 3rd down that wasn't reviewed....that was the very start of the momentum change in the game.

Knee down or not, that ball was just pulled out of his hands.  Running up the middle you need two hands on the ball.

 

That said, he had a great game and the positives far outweigh the negative.
