According to GA, Shaw was pressed about the fumble after the game and sort of half heartedly said he thought it wasn't a fumble. Not as an excuse, but only after pressed about it. I'd almost forgotten in the carnage afterward, but I thought he was right...knee was down before the ball came out. But of course the call is the call, and he certainly could have protected the ball a bit better on that play.

Excited to see how his season goes...a bright spot so far.

I was less than impressed with that Officiating crew.  And that play really set me off.  You don't make a call as the play happens, you then huddle up with the other refs and then talk yourselves into deciding that was a fumble?!?!?!?!  That's a BS process, even if they would've ruled it in our favor.  If you can't conclude that it's a fumble as the play happens, then you say the runner is down, and then review the play.

 

Not that it made that big of a difference.
