Switched over to the new FOXS1 show with Erin Andrews to see what that's like. Wow - it was a bit painful, 4 really stiff guys in a studio with no energy.

So you're telling me its 4 really stiff guys and EA?

Geez, okay I'll bite - yes, that's what she said.

Since Gameday is the topic, I was wondering why it appeals to you all. I personally was never really a fan but watched it occasionally. I stopped watching after Fowler's assessment of USF football in 2007. Instead of giving a legitimate opinion like "they may not have enough playmakers on offense" or "they do not have enough depth at key positions" (or anything of substance), he went with the "commuter school" nonsense. Seems its more about hype than actual evaluation.

I don't understand why people are so butt-hurt over that still. For the majority of our existence we've been a commuter school.

USF has changed that image.

I don't care about the term. It just had nothing to do with the football team or its ability to win in that particular season.

90% of the show has nothing to do with those topics. Every special interest piece, any time Herbstreit and Corso go back and forth, everytime Erin Andrews was on screen. If you're watching Gameday for X's and O's, you're in the wrong place.

True.  I guess the personalities just appeal to people.

For me it's always been about my inability to sleep in on gamedays from drinking night before/excitement for my bulls...and when your up at 10 am on Saturday there's not much else on tv

That just described ESPN in a nutshell. The only time I watch any of the networks of  the "Worldwide Leader in Sports", anymore, is when a game is on, and 90% of the time, that with the sound off.

Because it fills time prior to the noon kickoff of games. It's commentary...nothing more. And commentary is entertainment.

Nothing more.

I used to watch to see what kind of horsecrap they would say about USF

Didn't realize that asshat Fowler said we were a commuter school in 2007--- clearly remember that jerk saying it in 2003 when those asses wouldn't even put our helmet on the stage while playing army-- AND predicted we would lose the game (shut them out 28-0). Not to mention them conveniently losing our mascot head until the second half

they can go ***** themselves

LOL!  I forgot about all of that.  Didn't they once use an old Notre Dame helmet in place of our regular one on a show?  I recall hearing or reading about that.

If you are talking about long term viability and consistency of an athletic department, I can see why some may have disdain for a "commuter school".  I just do not see what it has to do with predicting one particular game or how a certain team will perform in one given season.

I used to love Gameday but as we get pushed out of the conversation with the conference realignments it's harder to watch.  Oh and Fowler just gets on my last nerve.  I watched it today and they were showing promos for a Barbara Walters style interview with a shimmering Urban Meyer and Chris Fowler.  ESPN <3 Urb.

Captain obvious, but it's all about the laws of majority rule for E$#@. Whatever gets them more viewers (=income). Only a great sports story trumps that priority.

If we go psycho viral this year like 2007, they won't ignore us. But we haven't done much to impress yet.
