Gotta start somewhere, hell it could be earning interest in an account right this very second.

All they need to do to get the ball rolling is to say:

"We plan to have an on campus stadium completed within the next 30 years, at the latest. Please contribute to our new OCS stadium fund. The faster and sooner this fund grows, the sooner we will be able to build the stadium."

And people would donate. Then, in ten years, they'd already have a foundation to move forward with. USF just raised 600 million dollars since 2006. Given ten years, I would hope they could raise at least 50 to 100 million towards an OCS. If USF knows they plan to build one, might as well open up a fund for it. Possibly there is some legal requirement not met that requires more clear goals or outlined building plan in order to have some donation fund? Just my speculation.

Just to bring a dose of reality to your suggestion ... You're talking about hoping to get 5 to 10 million dollars a year put aside for an OCS. Right now our total annual contributions to Athletics may be at 3 million dollars a year, http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/story/2012-05-14/ncaa-college-athletics-finances-database/54955804/1

When the large donors think it's time to have one and the Athletic Department deems it economically feasible, the ball will get rolling.

Even if only 10 million is raised... that can still go towards a down payment.

and it can gain interest. It would also give a real gauge to demand for an OCS instead of speculation.

Not going to happen. We need every dollar we can raise just to make ourselves more competitive. No way in the world are we going to divert money from daily operations in order to set it aside it in an untouchable savings account for a stadium

Like Trip says, it'll happen when there is a major donation, and not before. Our OCS will be funded top-down, not bottom-up

If we don't get a stadium then how about hoping for some acid rain to destroy the coloring of the nasty Rutgers red seats in Papa Glaziers house?

One million a year would be one third of what we take in now and there are still things needed to be paid off and built, like the indoor facility ..... and you shouldn't put down a down payment until you know how you're paying the rest off. This isn't going to happen with the equivalent of bake sales and car washes to even start it.

Giving our current state, conference affiliation, Horrible TV deal and being locked out of the Playoff system do we need an OCS for survival?

OCS would allow us to build something suitable to accommodate the amount of fans( not a half empty Ray Jay, which could be expanded at later date if needed)  we could make money off Naming rights, concessions, parking, advertising, ticket sales ect... Instead of paying rent and giving money to the Glazers.

Could be used for other events like Graduations, Rent it out for concerts, ect....

It cant hurt the future potential of landing in a power 5 either.

Didn't start this thread to beat a dead horse, but only to see if a Feasibility study is needed for survival?

absolutely not

getting in a big 5 conference is far more important

why invest in a stadium when you dont play with the big boys

True.  Hard to believe that there are still some who think that money has nothing to do with it.
