If there was any "influencing" done, ie $$$$, it wasn't to screw USF, it was strictly to keep Weiner ... They probably raised his recruiting budget.

I hope this helps us at Plant HS and doesn't hurt us.

 

It won't help us one iota. Those kids dream of going to SEC schools. We'll still have problems getting first swipe at their most talented players.

not everyone is a 4 or 5 star headed for top SEC programs. it's the talented 3 stars that head to michigan state, clemson, south carolina, etc that it will help with.

On the surface, I'd agree that this could be construed as unprofessional. However, there may have been some experiences Weiner encountered during his small amount of time on staff that caused him to change his mind. There could've been a difference in coaching philosophies, being unimpressed with how the athletic department operates, salary and benefits dispute, etc. I think there's more to the "I'm going back to my players" excuse. Of course, I may be wrong and we'll never really know for sure.

 

Regardless of how you feel about this situation, for the sake of our future recruiting efforts with Plant High School, I think we should refrain from criticizing Weiner too much. This forum is public and who knows who is viewing this information (i.e., Weiner himself, Plant players, Plant boosters). We don't want to turn an ally into an enemy.
