Want a recruiter though...

(in other news) Per twitter, Chris Hovan, who was interviewing at one point for DL coach, is now in CFL

we have plenty of recruiters. plus he has coached at some impressive schools. I imagine he can hold his own. we need coaching experience on the defensive side and he brings it bigtime.

Bucs could have had Mike Jenkins and took Talib instead. Yes, they are to blame for the talent on the field.

Cooper wasn't the coach then ... how would that be his fault, exactly?

Cooper made a little over 300k when he left for the NFL. Unless he is getting fired I dont think we have the money????

Like I said I trust CWT, but some of you sound like Holtz last year. I'm not saying the guy won't be great, but #'s are #'s.

------------------

This guy was the DB coach for three years with LSU when they had the most dominant DB in college football.  Last year he had the worst secondary players in the NFL.

So your idea is to discount his time with LSU and count heavily his shorter time with the Bucs.

I don't understand this logic.  This would be a great hire, probably better than Lance from Stanford.  His resume blows away that of any one else that has been rumorored.

And they were #1 against the run

I think that's mainly because they were so bad against the pass. Why run?

Jenkins really hasn't been any better

Before everybody gets all worked up AGAIN, is there any other reporting sources on Cooper besides the one that started this?:

@USFBulls_Rivals: DC Rumor Mill: hearing chatter that Tampa Bay Buccaneers DB coach Ron Cooper is in the mix... will try to get confirmation ASAP

I googled Ron Cooper USF DC didn't get any hits, but there was a message board post on an Auburn board from 2011. The guy had the following as his sig line. "You don't have to be Catholic to pull for Notre Dame anymore than you have to sleep with your sister to pull for Bama."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
